Welcome to the portland oregon web designers sniffy blog. New projects in creative website design focusing on those created at sniffy, as well as small press publishing and graphics will be announced here.
This blog will also feature new sniffy developments in portland graphic design, oregon website graphics, and portland small business branding.
Sniffy Linings has been in existence in certain forms since 1995. Started as a studio for furniture design
and fabrication, I found I was often being asked to design and fabricate signage and in store elements
for local businesses. This eventually spread into branding and other graphics work. In 1999 sniffy linings
press was formed, and shortly after that, the sniffy linings web factory.
Having spent quite a long time in visual design, I found myself applying many of the same techniques
I used in the design of physical objects, into website construction, and so my approach took the shape
of focusing on creating unique websites as functional art spaces, as opposed to simple, visually boring
pages.
Though my approach definitely comes from a visual design perspective, I’m also immersed in functionality
processes in web design. My sites are constructed to be fast loading, functional and search engine friendly.
I’m able to create shopping carts and credit interface for eCommerce. My experience is form doesn’t have to be
lost to function, and there’s no reason why complete functionality can’t be expressed in a visually dynamic space.
My education includes a BS in sculpture with a minor in art history, and a double major concentration in
psychology with a focus in cognition. I’m not sure if any of that is relevant, but people sometimes like
to know these kinds of things.
